About the project
THE PROBLEM
Calorie counting fails for the same reason every time: logging a meal takes longer than eating it. And calories are only part of the picture — most trackers ignore vitamins and minerals entirely, and none of them know that the person using them has diabetes, gastritis or an allergy.
WHAT WE BUILT
An iOS app that reads a meal from a photograph. The AI recognises the food, estimates the portion, and returns calories, macronutrients and micronutrients — before the first bite rather than after it.
Alongside protein, carbohydrate and fat it tracks 11 vitamins and 8 minerals, so nutritional gaps become visible instead of theoretical. The app adapts to a medical profile covering 22 conditions, flags ingredients to avoid, watches sodium limits, and supports keto, vegan and halal diets.
BMI, BMR and daily energy expenditure are calculated properly, and steps, sleep, resting heart rate and hydration sync through Apple Health and Health Connect. A Pro tier adds an AI coach that reads the whole picture — meals, vitals, sleep, deficits — and answers in that context.
RESULT
Logging a meal takes a photograph, and the app tracks what other calorie counters leave out: micronutrients and real medical constraints.
